Having led the National Football Academy (NFA) Under-15 to third placing in the previous edition of the Lion City Cup, Serbian Dejan Glusecvic will follow his charges up to the Under-16 level and lead them out at this year's competition again.
The limelight will be on Singapore’s rising star, Adam Swandi, to provide creativity and tactical inspiration together with teammate Amirul Adli from the centre of the field.
The team will look towards the skillful and nifty feet of Muhammad Zulfadhmi Bin Suzliman to provide the finishing touches provided by Azhar Ramli who like to be sandwiched in-between the midfielders and the attackers.
The backline will be confidently marshaled by defender R. Aaravin and Sadik Said who has been backed by his team-mates to provide leadership at the back.
NFA U-16’s preparations had taken them on a training tour of Melbourne, Australia, from March 9 to 18, 2012, where they defeated the Victoria State Under-17 Selection Team 3-1.
Glusecvic, a former Tanjong Pagar and North York Astros player, took the NFA U-15 to the spot last year beating Juventus 4-0 in the 3rd/4th playoff match.
This year the team, will be looking to do one better and at least match the achievements of their seniors who clinched the runners-up spot.
The NFA U-16 team will kick-off the campaign on June 23, 2012 6PM at Jalan Besar Stadium against Ajax Amsterdam.
