With Lucas Neill and Sasa Ognenovski both well into their 30s, the Socceroos need youthful cover at centre-back for the World Cup. Many see Spiranovic, 25, as the man for the job. But after a mere 12 appearances since his much-questioned move to Qatari club Al-Arabi almost a year ago, the Geelong-born defender has fallen out of favour. As revealed by Goal Australia, Spiranovic has been training with Melbourne Victory, sparking talk that he might sign for the club and get the regular game time he needs.
