‘The victory comes from team work’ – Porto’s Aboubakar reflects on derby win

Vincent Aboubakar has lauded the team’s performance in Porto’s 3-0 trouncing of Boavista in Saturday’s Porto derby game.

The Cameroon international opened scoring in the second half before Moussa Marega and Yacine Brahimi added the second and third goal as Sergio Conceiçao’s men cruised to their ninth league win of the season.

Aboubakar is delighted with his goal which counts as his eighth league effort this campaign and hailed the team’s effort for securing the all-important derby win.

“We know that the fight will last until the end and that nothing will be easy, but we trust our work and our quality to reach the end in the lead,” Aboubakar told club website.

“Boavista is a good team and we saw how well they played against Benfica. We knew it was going to be a very difficult game and the first-half proved it; still, in the second, everything was different. It was an intense match, with a lot of fight, but we ended up being better and we are the fair winners.

“The first goal turned out to be decisive to unblock the team. It gave us peace of mind and allowed us to score two more goals later. I’m happy to have scored and helped the team, but this victory comes from team work. The merit belongs to the whole team."
