Selangor and Andik to rediscuss current contract next month

Selangor and Indonesia winger, Andik Vermansyah is set to discuss the remainder of his contract with the Red Giants this February.

Andik has been left out of the Selangor squad for the first half of the 2017 season due to a long-term injury, but the player will reportedly hold talks with Selangor regarding his contract, which is scheduled to end November this year.

According to Andik’s agent, Mulyawan Munial, the negotiation will be held due to the financial issues that Selangor are currently facing.

“For now, Andik is not part of the squad because of his injury. We haven’t formally discussed about the contract renegotiation. I think this is because the situation (financial crisis) in Selangor, not because of his injury.”

“So far Andik is committed to the current arrangement. Andik and I are planning to discuss with the Selangor FA this February.”

“Andik’s contract is set to run until November 2017. We had discussions two weeks ago about renewing the contract. Currently we are still considering our options,” added Mulyawan.

Andik is currently in Indonesia receiving treatement for the injury that he picked up during the AFF Suzuki Cup last year.

Selangor have decided to not register the winger for the first half of the season, and has signed Brazilian Juliano Mineiro until the June player registration period to take Andik's place in the squad.

Andik joined Selangor in 2014 from Persebaya Surabaya, and has been a key figure for the Red Giants, capturing their 33rd Malaysia Cup title in 2015, and leading them as team captain in the knockout stages of the 2016 Malaysia Cup.
