Rodwell finally ends unwanted Premier League run against Crystal Palace

Jack Rodwell has finally tasted victory in a Premier League match he started, ending a run of 39 winless games as Sunderland beat Crystal Palace 4-0 at Selhurst Park.

Rampant Lukaku goes into history books

The midfielder had gone 1,370 days since he last celebrated picking up all three points with his last win coming for Manchester City against West Brom all the way back in May 2013.

Rodwell’s run included two games for City and 37 for Sunderland, the club he joined in August 2014, a run stretching over three years.

Goals from Lamine Kone, Didier Ndong and two from Jermain Defoe gave the Black Cats a huge victory at the bottom of the Premier League table.

The win moves David Moyes’s side level on points with the Eagles and just one point behind Hull, who also won against Liverpool.

It was not all good news for Rodwell, however, after the midfielder was replaced on 52 minutes by Darron Gibson following an injury.
