David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois continue to be linked with moves to Spain, but those at Santiago Bernabeu claim to be happy with a current keeper

Real Madrid may continue to be linked with the likes of David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois, but Florentino Perez has told Keylor Navas that he hopes to see him at the club for “many years to come”.

The Costa Rica international goalkeeper has seen his future called into question on a regular basis, with the Blancos reported to be in the market for a possible replacement in each passing transfer window.

Those rumours have started to emerge again heading into the summer, with long-standing targets at Manchester United and Chelsea generating plenty of headlines.

Zinedine Zidane has, however, declared himself happy with his current options and Santiago Bernabeu supremo Perez has now backed Navas to nail down the No. 1 spot.

The 31-year-old was named an honorary member of Real’s Ramon Mendoza Supporters' Group on Sunday and, speaking at the event, Perez said: “That this supporters' group has named Keylor Navas as an honorary member is a great gesture.

“Keylor, you have won the love and affection of everyone in Madrid. You have done that through talent, professionalism and by your comportment; because you have identified with Real Madrid's values.

“We are very proud to have you as our goalkeeper, regardless of what others might say. Keep working hard and I'm sure that you will be with us for many years to come.

"We want you to continue to make history and make Madrid's success even bigger.”

Navas has been subjected to terrace taunts at times, but has always played his way back into form.

He has tried to steer clear of the seemingly constant speculation regarding his future, but insists he would have no problem with Real bringing in competition if the club thought it necessary.

He told fans in Alcala de Henares: "I never said that they should not sign anyone.

“I am not from here but I feel the colours of the club like the rest of you. I work each day for this shirt.”

Navas joined Real from Levante in 2014 and has gone on to make 136 appearances for the club, helping them to the La Liga title, two Champions League crowns and three Club World Cup triumphs.
