Samuel Kalu scored in Gent's 5-2 victory over Zulte Waregem in a Belgian Championship playoff encounter on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old winger scored in the 59th minute to put his side three-goal up after first half efforts from Kalifa Coulibaly and Kenneth Saief had given them a 2-0 lead.

Coulibaly registered his brace two minutes later with Waregem’s Mbaye Leye and Henrik Dalsgaard consolatory strikes coming at the ends of Yaya Kubo’s goal which sealed the comprehensive victory for the Blue-Whites.

Also on parade at the Luminus Arena were Super Eagles duo, William Troost-Ekong and Anderson Esiti who both featured for the entire duration of the encounter. The latter was cautioned in the 32nd minute.

The strike was Kalu’s third in 15 appearances for Gent this season. And they are third on the playoffs log with 41 points to their name.

They face Club Brugge in their next encounter on May 21.
