Atlanta United goalkeeper Kann out 6-8 weeks

Atlanta United announced Tuesday that goalkeeper Alec Kann is set to miss up to eight weeks recovering from a left quad injury.

Kann, 26, suffered the injury during Atlanta's 2-0 win over the Columbus Crew at Mapfre Stadium on Saturday. He was able to play the full 90 minutes in the match, during which he picked up an assist.

A Decatur, Georgia native, Kann has held the starting spot for Tata Martino's expansion side since its first-ever game in March. He has amassed a 8-7-3 record so far this year with four clean sheets and a 1.39 goals against average.

U.S. national team goalkeeper Brad Guzan, currently preparing for the Gold Cup, is expected to take over the No. 1 shirt when he joins Atlanta later this month.
