Irfan Fazail could not hide his feelings after his team suffered from their first lost of this edition of SEA Games at the hands of their rivals Indonesia.
“We had given our best out there. It wasn’t anybody’s fault,” he said.
Our Young Tigers played a tough match where they got an equiliser in the last five minutes of the game through Thamil Arasu. The team were under pressure after conceding in the 30th minute, but their fighting attitude led to the eventual penalty shoot out where Indonesia triumphed 4-3.
“It is anybody’s game in the 90 minutes playing, but the luck ran out for our team. It’s the penalty shoot out that kills our hopes.”
Ahead of the third place decider against Singapore on Saturday, Irfan is still in a positive mood, urging his team mates to keep their composure to win this one.
“I will not return empty-handed, I will make sure we win this match and bring home the bronze medal that will at least cure the fans’ frustration.
