Harimau Muda secured a key 2-1 victory against Myanmar earlier today to book their spot in the semis, but though the likes of Ashri Chuchu and Saarvindran may have impressed with their late goals, the performance of Izham Tarmizi throughout the match was the most eye-catching one.

Despite all the pre-match hype, Harimau Muda started on the backfoot as Vietnam were the better side throughout the first half. Their offensive department were relentless in attack, testing the Malaysian defence time after time.

Even the likes of Fadhli Shas and Shahrul Saad, who are usually solid, struggled to cope at times, but Izham Tarmizi was always there to rescue them. The Vietnamese were also equally solid on set-pieces, although Izham did terrifically in those situations as well.

In the second half as Malaysia began to grow in strength, Vietnam started pushing on the counter. Even in these situations, Izham was precise in his timing as to when he should come forward and close the forwards down to claim the ball.

His performance continuously kept Malaysia in the game, and when they finally got the two goals, celebration ensued. But none of that would have been possible had Izham fumbled in dealing with any of those attacks from Vietnam.
