Malaysia will be banking on Rozaimi's lethal touch.

The Star

Group A of the SEA Games comes to a close tomorrow and it pits Malaysia against Vietnam in a winner takes all match. Goal takes a look at the key battles that could decide the tie

FADHLI SHAS
VS MINH THUAN HA

The ever present Fadhli Shas produced his worst performance in the competition on Sunday against Singapore and it is rare to see him play that way for consecutive matches. The experienced centre back will have his plate full against Minh Tuan. The SHD Da Nang striker has only 1 goal to his name in this competition but is still a big threat to Malaysia. Minh Tuan’s ability to mix the physical and skill side of things will ensure that Fadhli has to be on his toes at all times.

ZUBIR AZMI
VS NGUYEN VAN QUYET

Throughout this Sea Games, Malaysia’s right hand side has been ably defended by K. Reuben. The same cannot be said of the left hand side. Zubir Azmi is expected to be given the nod ahead of the less experienced, Nazirul Naim. The Terengganu left back is likely to be up against Van Quyet and that’s a tough one to call. Van Quyet has already amassed over 10 caps for Vietnam’s senior side and his pace and dribbling skills will not be an after-thought for Zubir.

ROZAIMI RAHMAN
VS DINH THIEN THANH

After his exploits in the last match against Singapore, surely Rozaimi will get the nod ahead of Hazwan Bakri to start against Vietnam. Quick and composed on the ball, Rozaimi have the ability to fend off defenders and create an opening for himself. Something which Rozaimi will have to utilise against the tough tackling, no-nonsense defender in Tien Thanh. The Hai Phongcentre back can get a little hot-headed at times and he will try to ruffle Rozaimi’s feathers. It is up to the young Malaysian striker to not overreact to those sly challenges that are expected to come.
