The official squad that will be representing Malaysia in the upcoming South East Asian Games has now been released after Ong Kim Swee finalised his selection earlier today.
20 players have been picked after months of evaluation and this group will be spearheading Malaysia's bid of winning the SEA Games Gold Medal in football for the third successive time.
The list includes popular names like Rozaimi Rahman, Thamil Arasu and even skipper Irfan Fazail. Kenny Palraj, who is known for his versatility, has also been included in the squad that will travel to Myanmar.
However, the likes of Junior Eldstal, Nik Shahrul and even Wan Zack Wan Haikal have all missed out due to injuries. That list also contains Fandi Ahmad and Gary Steven Robbat.
On paper, Ong Kim Swee certainly has a reliable squad, which has been consisently exposed to high quality matches over the past 11 months. Rozaimi Rahman would probably be the standout name from the squad, and he will certainly be leading Malaysia's offensive line in the tournament.
However, the challenge awaiting them in Myanmar will not be easy to tackle and it will be interesting to see how OKS tinkers with the players available at his disposal during the course of the competition.
