Former Manchester United ace Louis Saha believes David Moyes needs time to show his qualities as a capable replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson.
Saha, who was in Singapore to participate in the IG Masters Football Sixes Singapore Cup tournament last weekend, believes Moyes is in an unenviable position right now.
“He (Moyes) has got one of the toughest positions right now to come to a club of that size without any pedigrees such as winning trophies,” Saha said in an exclusive interview with Goal Singapore.
“He’s fighting against time, so it’s really tough. But I think he’s a really strong man, he’s got obviously a great quality at man-management, and I think that he’s going to push some players to their limit and improve them.”
Still, Saha believes that Moyes needs time to prove himself as an able replacement to his predecessor.
“Only time will prove that (whether Moyes is good enough)," he continued.
“I’m sure that he’s got the quality. The time is something that you need to show your quality. And if you don’t have the time you will struggle to be called a quality manager.”
Saha recently called an end to his football career and despite it being blighted by injuries, he had a fairly successful time that included spells playing under both Sir Alex and Moyes for Manchester United and Everton respectively.
The Frenchman’s fondest memories were mainly of his time at Manchester United.
“For me it’s the greatest club in my belief,” Saha said.
“The way they embraced me and the way they just want to think about football. I really enjoyed every day. Every time they can obviously improve someone, and [that] is something that I really like.”
