The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has finally received confiirmation from the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Nepal’s participation in the international friendly, scheduled for November 19th in Chennai.
The AIFF had lined up two international friendlies in November one of them being cemented against the Philippines on the 15th while the issue regarding the second friendly and Nepal’s participation was still up in the air. It is also important to note here that India will be playing both bouts on the stipulated FIFA international dates.
India and Nepal share a rich football rivalry between them, with records highlighting the former's dominance over the latter. The Blue Tigers have won nine of the fourteen recorded matches, while Nepal have three wins, including the humbling of India during the South Asian Football Federation’s (SAFF) Championship in 2013, where they won 2-1. Two games have ended in draws.
The confirmation of the match coincides with the release of the FIFA international rankings list, where India find themselves at 154th, a one place rise from last month’s position, while Nepal are 165th.
