All they need is a draw against Laos to qualify for the semi-final but Singapore coach Raddy Avramovich knows that a win against Laos would put them at the top of the group and an added advantage of playing the second leg of the semi-final in front of the home crowd.

“We are looking to win and getting to the next round, even if it is 1-0, I will be satisfied,” he said.

“It is a tournament where there is no easy game, each game we must give our 100%.

“If we are not able to get the results, then we are not good enough. But then we proved we’re good when we defeated Malaysia and should go into the semi-final.”

Raddy will be turning to Malaysia coach Rajagopal for pointers as the Malayan Tigers crushed the Laotians by four goals to one a few days ago.

“In some way, Malaysia showed us what needs to be done against Laos,” he added.

“We have to put pressure on them, like how Malaysia did. What Malaysia did was to pressure them and exhaust the Laotians players”

After their loss against Indonesia, Raddy was back to his drawing board as he was forced to make several changes due to injuries and suspension.

Shaiful Esah (ankle) might not be fully fit in time for the game while midfield lynchpin Hariss Harun (fractured fibula) has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament.

“Things that need to be improved, we have discussed it and I will make the necessary changes,” he promised.

“We will look at him (Shaiful Esah) before the game and take into consideration all the possibilities. We should not have lost against Indonesia and [should] be in the semi-finals right now.”

Singapore will take on Laos at the Shah Alam stadium on Saturday at 8.45pm.
