Vietnam midfielder Nguyen Ngoc Duy believes his team are favourites for the Suzuki Cup 2012, though they face strong opposition for the title.
"Not only Thailand but also Philippines and Myanmar are strong teams. At present, our morale is high and if we give enough effort, I'm confident that we would make it to the semi-finals,” said the 26-year-old player.
With Vietnam being the highest FIFA ranked team in the AFFSC 2012, Nguyen believes that only injury problems can prevent them from triumphing.
"Our goal is nothing other than winning the tournament. However, it's not easy as we must give it our best shot in each game."
“What concerns us most are injuries. If we can avoid injuries and have best players for all games, we can win the tournament."
Nguyen also believes that this Vietnam team is a cohesive bunch.
“There are no differences between veterans and rookies. After training together for a while, we understand each other well,” he added.
The Hanoi T&T midfielder was reluctant to discuss his recent form but insisted he always gave his best.
"I would rather leave it to the coaches to rate. For me, I always give my best whenever I have (the) chance to play."
