Thailand veteran defender Niweat Siriwong is adamant that Thailand are handling the tag of favourites well ahead of the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup as the co-hosts aim to clinch their fourth title.
The 35-year-old has been recalled to the national team squad after his international retirement last year and is aiming for glory under coach Winfried Schafer guidance.
"I think we will be champions, we are not afraid of the title holders (Malaysia). With Winfried Schafer as coach I am sure we will win the cup," Niweat told thai-fussball.com.
However, the Pattaya United skipper stated that he will consider retirement from international duties after the AFF Suzuki Cup to give opportunities to the younger generation.
"At the end of this year we do have a major tournament, Maybe after that I will stop my international career," he said.
"Schafer is a very good coach. He gives a lot of opportunities to young players, no matter where they play."
The War Elephants have been scheduled to host Philippines on November 24 in their opening match at Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok.
