Ajax make formal approach for Assaidi

The Morocco international has seemingly caught the attention of the Eredivisie champions with his good performances over the past two seasons
Heerenveen sporting director Johan Hansma has revealed that Ajax have made a formal approach for Oussama Assaidi.

The Morocco international previously appeared to be on his way to Galatasaray, but the transfer collapsed after Assaidi failed to agree terms with the Istanbul giants.

Nevertheless, the 23-year-old winger could now get his desired move to a big club after all, as the Eredivisie champions have made an enquiry, although the two sides still appear far apart in their valuation of the player.

"Ajax made an approach some two weeks ago, but we did not agree terms. I don't know whether they'll return for him. Oussama will stay at Heerenveen unless a good offer comes in," Hansma stated to De Telegraaf.

The Amsterdam giants recently secured the services of Tobias Sana from Goteborg, but sporting director Marc Overmars has since suggested they could sign another attacker.

Assaidi has a contract with Heerenveen until June 2013, and an offer in the region of €4 million could be needed to lure him away from the Friezen.
