thumbnail Hello,

The former Oranje striker has been unveiled as the Dutch side's No.2, but will continue his work as part of the backroom staff with Twente

Patrick Kluivert has been confirmed as Netherlands' new assistant coach.

Louis van Gaal replaced Bert van Marwijk as Oranje boss after a disastrous Euro 2012 campaign in Poland and Ukraine this summer, and the veteran trainer has opted to select his former striker as his right-hand man.

The ex-AC Milan forward is currently part of the coaching team at Eredivisie side Twente, but the Enschede-based outfit have confirmed that he will continue in his role with the club.

"His work with the Oranje will be combined with his position at Twente,” chairman Joop Munsterman told De Telegraaf.

"We think this will be a great experience for him and offers him a great opportunity.”

Van Gaal was the head coach who brought Kluivert through the ranks at Ajax, before signing him for Barcelona and selecting him for Netherlands in his first stint as national coach.
