The Marseille coach is eager to continue his side's promising start to the Ligue 1 season against the French champions despite their midweek defeat to Borussia DortmundOlympique de Marseille boss Elie Baup insists that "anything is possible" as his side prepare to entertain Paris Saint-Germain in the first Classique of the season on Sunday.
Just a point separates the two sides in the Ligue 1 table after eight games, although PSG head into the encounter off the back of a convincing 3-0 Champions League win over Benfica, while Marseille suffered defeat by the same scoreline against Borussia Dortmund.
However, Baup has stressed that his side's European form will have no bearing on Sunday's clash, which he believes will be a special occasion for everyone concerned with the club.
"This is like a final, it's very special," he told reporters at a press conference.
"This is a great game for the whole club, our fans, our players. We need to put all our heart into this game.
"During a complete season, we know that Paris is the favourite for the league and it will be difficult for a team to contest that, but in a home game, anything is possible.
"The defeats [to Dortmund and Arsenal] have consequences for the Champions League. Now, we must get back to Ligue 1, which is our priority. We've had two consecutive victories [against Lorient and Saint-Etienne], we're hosting the league favourites, so we have every reason to be motivated for this game."
Baup warns that PSG will be rightly confident heading into the game after their midweek win over Jorge Jesus's side but says that his players must not be overawed against Laurent Blanc's expensively assembled squad.
"Teams like Paris and Monaco have financial power that means we play against very big players who've been attracted to join these clubs but we have to face that by transcending it, showing the best values which correspond to our club," added the 58-year-old.
"PSG won 3-0 against a good team. They would be wrong to not be confident. For them, that's not complacency, it is part of the logic of what they are doing."
