"AS Monaco FC wishes to express its surprise following the decision on Thursday of the disciplinary committee of the LFP to impose a penalty of one game to be played behind closed doors, and three penalty points, of which one is suspended.
"The Club believes this is a harsh punishment given the significant efforts the Club has made over recent years to improve the management of home games and to ensure that due respect is given to all principal participants, including players and officials.
"Furthermore, AS Monaco FC has always condemned in the strongest possible terms, any violent conduct against referees.
"Stade Louis II has always been synonymous with an atmosphere of friendliness and respect for both opponents and referees.
"The club will await the official notification for considering to appeal."
Monaco are returning in Ligue 1 following a two-year absence and the Dmitry Rybolovlev-owned club have already signed several marquee players for next season, chief among them Radamel Falcao.
