thumbnail Hello,

The former Barcelona player's parent, Dominique, has suggested that Remi Garde was interested in bringing the attacker back to the club where he started his career

The father of Monaco's Ludovic Giuly has revealed that Olympique Lyon wanted to sign his son last summer.

The attacker began his career at Les Gones before leaving in 1998 for a stint with Les Rouge et Blanc, and went on to represent Barcelona, Roma and Paris Saint-Germain in the following years.

Dominique Giuly has now claimed that his son's boyhood club were interested in bringing him back to Stade de Gerland in the summer of 2011.

"Remi wanted to [sign Giuly], he thought Ludovic could provide more in terms of experience and joy in the changing room," the father of the 35-year-old player told OL TV.

"But I think this did not happen because certain people did not want to be upstaged. That is my opinion."

The 35-year-old, who won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2006, remains at Monaco who are currently embroiled in a relegation battle in Ligue 2.
