Barcelona have been the dominant force in European football over the past five years, lifting two Champions League trophies and reaching the semi-finals of the competitions a record six times in a row.
They have done so playing football lauded as some of the best ever seen, led by Lionel Messi, argued by many as the most incredible player ever to have graced the game.
But the weaknesses in their latest incarnation were brutally exposed over two ties by Jupp Heynckes's ruthless Bayern Munich machine, who trounced the Catalans 7-0 on aggregate to progress to the Wembley final.
Goal.com's Carlo Garganese argued on Thursday that Barca's humiliation at the hands of the German giants proves that they do not stand as high as the likes of Arrgio Sacchi's revered AC Milan outfit but is that a harsh assessment?
Have Barcelona been the greatest club team ever to play the game, regardless of this season's European form?
What do you think? Have Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova overseen the most brilliant club team that the sport has ever seen or are they as human as the rest of us, their failure to retain the Champions League a blot on their record?
