thumbnail Hello,

Die Wolfe are closing in on a deal for Chelsea midfielder Kevin de Bruyne and the Borussia Dortmund boss believes they will soon be back among the very best in Germany

Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Wolfsburg are emerging as a major force in the Bundesliga again as they look to battle Borussia Dortmund for a place in the top four.

Wolfsburg loosened the purse strings to sign Luiz Gustavo from Bayern Munich in the summer and they are looking to strengthen their squad further in this transfer window, with a deal for Chelsea midfielder Kevin de Bruyne close to completion.

Die Wolfe have not been beaten in the Bundesliga since early October and sit just two points behind Dortmund in the Bundesliga table, having beaten BVB 2-1 in November, and Klopp is wary of the threat posed by the 2009 champions.

"It is clear that Volkswagen [Wolfsburg's main sponsors] are being generous and starting to put a lot [of money] into VfL," Klopp told German newspaper Bild.

"VfL still have power. They are competitors and you have to take them seriously, but that's no surprise."

Wolfsburg take on Hannover in their next Bundesliga encounter, while Dortmund face Augsburg.
