Mario Gotze is optimistic about his future at Bayern Munich after overcoming the injury problems that kept him out of action for a large part of last year.
The Germany international, 21, missed the opening months of the 2013-14 campaign due to injury following his summer move from Borussia Dortmund.
That came on the back of an injury lay-off towards the back end of last season - which saw him miss the Champions League final against the Bavarians - but he is hopeful that the New Year will bring with it a new start.
"I achieved peak fitness during the first half of the season, I had playing time and I became part of the team," Gotze told the club's official website
"It made a few things easier for me. I'm very optimistic now. My main hope for 2014 is to stay fit and healthy and play good and successful football as a team.
"The break has done us all the world of good and we're ready to get going in the New Year. We have a few highlights coming up. We're looking forward to the second half of the season."
Gotze has made 20 appearances for Bayern in all competitions so far this campaign, netting eight goals in the process.
