Playing Dortmund is the game of the year - Ribery

The two German giants face each other at Signal Iduna Park on November 23, and the 30-year-old feels a win for die Roten would put them in control of the title race
Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has described his side's clash with Borussia Dortmund as the "game of the year".

The two German giants face each other following the international break, on November 23, with Bayern four points clear of their rivals.

The size of the occasion has not been lost on the 30-year-old Frenchman, who knows that winning three points at Signal Iduna Park would be a major moment in the season.

"This is the definitely the game of the year," Ribery told

"I'm looking forward to it. If we win there we would be seven points clear of Dortmund, and it would be a big moment in the title race.

"We will have to play with a lot of patience, and must take our chances when they come. Above all though, we must not lose the ball, because Dortmund are excellent on the break."

Ribery's last defeat in the league came against Dortmund some 41 games ago and he hopes history won't repeat itself later this month.

"I really hope that is not a bad omen for us," he said.

The in-form Frenchman also spoke about his chances of winning the Ballon d'Or, with many tipping him to claim the award ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo after a fine 12 months which culminated in him lifting the treble with Bayern last season.

"Of course I think about winning it," he continued.

"For me to have a chance of winning the trophy I need to keep playing at my current level, having fun and playing without pressure on myself."
