thumbnail Hello,

The towering defender has revealed that his compatriot has been in touch with him about the Gunners, and has told the attacker about his experience in London

Arsenal centre-half Per Mertesacker has conceded that Koln striker Lukas Podolski has contacted him for information about Arsene Wenger's team.

The 26-year-old former Bayern Munich man is continually being linked with a move to the Gunners, and a recent report suggested that he has already agreed personal terms with the London outfit.

Although the attacker has so far refused to comment on the potential transfer, Podolski has not wasted any time to collect information about Arsenal.

"He has been very interested in the past few weeks, and has sent me a number of text messages," Mertesacker said to Sky.

"I've told him that this is a great place to work and that Arsenal are an amazing club.

"Nothing has been agreed on yet though, and Lukas hasn't given me a ring yet. That will all happen in tranquility."

Podolski has a contract with Koln until the summer of 2013, but he allegedly has a relegation release clause of €6 million.
