The skipper is set to miss the the high-profile match as he has been deemed unfit to join the team, despite playing the full 90 minutes in Bayern Munich's 2-0 win over SchalkeGermany captain Philipp Lahm has been forced to withdraw from the squad that will face France in an international friendly on Wednesday in Bremen.
The German Football Federation (DFB) has announced on their official website that the team will have to do without their captain, who was present during club side Bayern Munich's 2-0 win over Schalke on Sunday.
"Philipp Lahm is unavailable for the international match between the German national team and France on Wednesday in Bremen," reads the statement on DFB's webpage. "The 85-times-capped player has been struggling with bursitis in his right knee since last week."
After consulting Germany doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt, Lahm has been advised to stay in Munich and receive treatment.
Almost certain to miss the clash against France is Borussia Dortmund's Sven Bender, who suffered a painful injury after being kicked in the face by Mame Biram Diouf in his side's 3-1 victory over Hannover on Sunday.
