Following a clash with San Marino goalkeeper Simoncini after just six minutes, the Arsenal winger is feared to have broken a rib in England's 2014 World Cup Qualifier

England winger Theo Walcott has been sent to hospital for a chest scan on a suspected broken rib following a clash with San Marino goalkeeper Aldo Simoncini.

The Arsenal man, running to collect Kyle Walker's pass, collided with the shot-stopper near the edge of the area - and the backroom staff have insisted the scan is just precautionary.

Although getting to his feet after treatment, Walcott only managed to walk halfway around the Wembley pitch before calling for a stretcher to help him back to the dressing room.

The attacker is currently being treated by team physio Gary Lewin and doctor Ian Beasfield, and is now a doubt for England's next qualifier, against Poland, on Tuesday.
