Championship Treble: Lack of goals at the Valley plus away wins for Derby and Ipswich

With a full compliment of 3pm kick-offs to choose from in the Championship on Sunday, Al Hain-Cole has picked out three tips for an accumulator worth just under 9/1
Championship Treble
Charlton Athletic
Sheffield Wednesday
Kick-off: 15:00 GMT
Tip: Under 2.5 goals at 13/20 (1.65) with BetVictor

Sheffield Wednesday’s trip to the Valley brings together two of the bluntest attacks in the Championship for a potential relegation six-pointer that is unlikely to attract too many neutrals.

The Owls were helped by the return from injury of former England international goalkeeper Chris Kirkland to secure a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Blackburn on Boxing Day, although their failure to find the net means they have now struck just eight times in 11 games on the road this league season.

However, Kirkland is bound to be less busy when his team take on a Charlton side with just 10 goals to their name in 11 home games, meaning BetVictor’s odds of 13/20 (1.65) are not to be missed on under 2.5 goals going in for the ninth time in 12 trips for the visitors.

Derby County
Kick off: 15:00 GMT
Tip: Derby to win at 21/20 (2.05) with BetVictor

Having secured a creditable 0-0 draw away to Leeds on his return to Barnsley, Danny Wilson saw his eagerly-anticipated homecoming to Oakwell ruined by a 1-0 defeat against Bolton.

The Tykes boss will now be in no doubt as to the extent of the task currently standing before him, as he prepares his rock bottom side for the visit of in-form Derby County.

The Rams will be smarting after seeing their impressive seven-game winning streak brought to an end by a cruel late equaliser against Huddersfield on Boxing Day, and odds of 21/20 (2.05) appear far too good to pass up on them bouncing back with fourth away win in five against a team who have gone five matches without emerging victorious in front of their own fans.

Ipswich Town
Kick-off: 15:00 GMT
Ipswich to win at 13/8 (2.63) with BetVictor

Despite sitting behind only Derby in the form guide, Ipswich’s recent transformation into serious promotion candidates has gone somewhat under the radar.

However, with two Championship titles under his belt, Mick McCarthy certainly knows how to get a team promoted to the top flight, and his brand of counterattacking football is perfectly suited to life on the road.

This was handily illustrated by the Tractor Boys’ 3-0 Boxing Day win at Doncaster, and they are well worth the 13/8 (2.63) price available to come out on top once again when they visit a Bournemouth team that have lost three and won just one of their last five at the Goldsands Stadium.
