Cardiff extended their lead at the top of the Championship to ten points with a 1-0 victory against Leeds United. January signing Fraizer Campbell scored the only goal of the game on his debut for the club.
Hull City also boosted their chances of automatic promotion with a narrow 1-0 win at Millwall. The visitors moved level on points with second-placed Leicester thanks to a David Meyler strike which came in the very first minute of the match.Watford, meanwhile, moved to one place behind the Tigers with a comeback victory against Bolton. Marvin Sordell converted a penalty for the Wanderers after half an hour but Gianfranco Zola's men were soon level thanks to Matej Vydra's 19th league goal of the campaign. And the hosts completed the turnaround in the 70th minute as Almen Abdi helped secure all three points.
Crystal Palace also remain in the play-off positions after clinching their first victory in four matches with a south London derby win over Charlton. Glenn Murray netted twice within four minutes during the second half to give the hosts the bragging rights.
Alex McLeish was left empty-handed upon his return to Birmingham as Nottingham Forest slipped to a 2-1 defeat. Chris Burke, a player who had been strongly linked with a move to Forest in January, grabbed both the goals to rub salt in the Scottish boss' wounds.

Meanwhile, Rory Loy's first-half finish helped strugglers Carlisle pull off an unlikely away victory over league leaders Tranmere Rovers. Rovers were playing with 10 men following the sending off of Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro, who had needlessly kicked out at Frank Simek.
Yeovil edged nearer to the play-off positions as they ran out convincing winners against Brentford. Paddy Madden scored his 14th goal of the season before Ed Upson and Dan Burn hit home to move the Glovers within two points of their fifth-placed opposition.
Shrewsbury also significantly closed the gap between themselves and Preston down in 18th and 17th respectively with a 2-1 win at Deepdale. Matt Richards' injury-time penalty secured a vital victory for the visitors and dragged North End nearer towards the relegation mire.

Cheltenham, meanwhile, climbed up to third with a 2-1 win against Torquay. Keith Lowe opened the scoring for the hosts with his fifth goal of the season before Shaun Harrad doubled the lead. Rene Howe pulled a goal back for the visitors but they could not find an equaliser.
Exeter dropped down to 7th as they were held to a goalless draw by Aldershot. Asa Hall was denied the perfect debut as he hit the bar with a close-range header in the 25th minute whilst Shots keeper Jamie Young prevented Jamie Cureton stealing the points late on.
Southend leapfrogged the Grecians to go up to 5th as they scraped a 1-0 home victory against Oxford United. Tyan Leonard scored within four minutes of coming on a substitute for the hosts, to seal a win which sees the visitors drop down to 13th.
Morecambe also climbed the table to take 12th place with 4-1 victory away at York. Lewis Alessandra opened the scoring for the Shrimps before Jason Walker levelled from the penalty spot. Kevin Ellison then put the visitors back ahead before Jack Redshaw wrapped up the game with his ninth and tenth goals of the campaign.
