The West Ham manager also believes his side should have been awarded a penalty in the first half for a foul on Andy Carroll but concedes a toothless display in front of goal contributed to his side’s loss.
“We think Andy was fouled in the first half in the box by Scott Dann, I think it was,” said Allardyce.
“Of course, looking at that it looks lie a blatant penalty to me. Quite why Martin [Atkinson] didn’t give it, because he seemed to be in a vey good position.
“We were pretty miserable in our finishing. Not even making the goalkeeper make more saves than he actually did was, apart from the penalty we gave away, my big disappointment.
“Our finishing failed us. Perhaps the referee failed us on the Andy Carroll foul. In the end, Pablo [Armero] shouldn’t have given the penalty away, it was a silly challenge, and we paid a high price for that.”
