thumbnail Hello,

There's a mid table clash on Tuesday night, with the Saints making the long journey north and our tipster is backing a 13/5 goalscorer bet as his selection

Hull City welcome Southampton to the KC Stadium this evening as ninth play 11th in the Premier League. Despite what might seem like a mid-table clash, with the bottom half of the table so tight, only four points separate West Brom in 18th place and Swansea in 10th position.

Steve Bruce will be desperate for a win tonight, particularly with home matches being so important to Hull with a number of points being picked up already at the KC. 19 of Hull's 27 Premier League points have been earned on their own turf, so extra importance is placed on such clashes.

Depsite their home form being the backbone of the campaign thus far, the Tigers come into this match after a brilliant win away at potential relegation rivals Sunderland.

Goals from two of Bruce's new signings, Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic saw them claim all three points for only the second time away from the KC Stadium this season. Paddy Power price them at 7/4 (2.75) to make it back-to-back wins on Tuesday night.

Southampton come into this match unbeaten in their last seven matches. Mauricio Pochettino's side have been involved in a number of high scoring matches of late, drawing 2-2 with Sunderland, Arsenal and Stoke City in the league.

Last time out away they beat Fulham 3-0, so will be confident coming into this game and with a nine point gap between them and Swansea one place below them, they should be well assured of a top half finish. Paddy Power price them at 13/8 (2.63) to record another win on the road. The same firm price the draw at 9/4 (3.25).

The over 2.5 goals bet at 5/4 (2.25) could be viewed as an interesting price in this match when you consider Southampton's recent high scoring matches, but with Hull only conceding three goals in their last five matches, this bet is worth avoiding.

Steve Bruce was certainly active in the transfer window, bringing in two strikers who have made an instant impact at Hull. Shane Long, who signed from West Brom, has been a fantastic addition to the Tigers, already netting twice in his three matches since his move from the West Midlands. With Hull scoring nine goals in their last four matches at home, they haven't struggled for goals.

Long to net anytime at 13/5 (3.60) with Paddy Power looks like a bet with tremendous value and is certainly worth backing given the Ireland international's impressive form of late.
