Manchester City without Fernandinho and Oscar benched for Chelsea

The former Shakhtar midfielder picked up a muscle problem, while the Blues' Brazilian playmaker has been replaced by Nemanja Matic and Willian is handed the role in the hole
Manchester City are without Fernandinho while Chelsea have left Oscar on the bench for Monday's top of the table clash at the Etihad Stadium.

The Brazil international is not part of Manuel Pellegrini's matchday squad due to a muscle problem, so Martin Demichelis is deployed in the centre of midfield - a role he performed for half an hour against Tottenham in midweek.

With the Argentine filling in for Fernandinho, Matija Nastasic returns to the starting line-up and will partner Vincent Kompany.

In attack, Alvaro Negredo - who had been sidelined with a shoulder injury - replaces Sergio Aguero, who was forced off against Spurs, and will partner the in-form Edin Dzeko, while Stevan Jovetic, despite scoring at White Hart Lane, drops to the bench.

Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, has opted to drop Oscar, with Willian lining up in the hole and Ramires fielded on the right, while Nemanja Matic makes his first Premier League start alongside David Luiz in the heart of midfield.

Samuel Eto'o leads the line once again, looking to replicate the hat-trick he netted against City's Manchester rivals, while Gary Cahill is picked to make his 50th Premier League start for the Blues.
