Dzeko revels in Aguero's goalscoring return

The former Wolfsburg man struck twice against Blackburn in the FA Cup, with the Argentine also netting, and the Bosnian is delighted to see his team-mate back in action
Edin Dzeko has no fears that the goalscoring return of Sergio Aguero will have a negative impact on his own pitch time at Manchester City and is delighted the Argentine is back in action.

The Bosnia international netted twice in his side's 5-0 win over Blackburn on Wednesday night, with Alvaro Negredo also bagging a double as City romped to victory.

Aguero came off the bench to replace the former Sevilla striker mid-way through the second half, returning from a calf injury he picked up at the start of December, and scored with just his second touch of the ball.

7/2 Manchester City are 7/2 with Paddy Power to win the FA Cup
Dzeko is far from concerned that the fit-again Aguero will take his place in the first team, though, and is thrilled that Manuel Pellegrini will be able to call on the diminutive frontman again, who already has 20 goals this season.

“Lately I'm playing a lot of games, I feel good and the team is winning," Dzeko told ITV after City's FA Cup third-round replay victory.

“It's great news for the team because he [Aguero] is one of the important players for the team.”

Dzeko admitted that Blackburn has provided a stubborn test despite the convincing scoreline, particularly in the first half, and, after City booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup, is still eyeing an unprecedented quadruple.

“I don't think it was easy especially in the first half," the former Wolfsburg striker added. “[The opening goal] was very important for us, and also the first goal in the second half. As usual we scored some more.

“We are still there for four trophies, but our target is to win every next game.”
