Premier League investigate Meulensteen's Morrison comments

West Ham have made an official complaint following the Fulham manager's revelation that the Cottagers had a bid rejected for the 20-year-old by their London rivals
The Premier League are investigating comments made by Rene Meulensteen concerning Fulham's interest in West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison.

Meulensteen publicly stated his interest in the 20-year-old after his side's 3-0 FA Cup win over Norwich City on Tuesday evening, and revealed he knows the player is in favour of the move.

Goal exclusively revealed earlier this month that Morrison has told Sam Allardyce he wants to move to Craven Cottage in January as the west Londoners bid to stave off relegation.

A Premier League statement read: "The Premier League has received a complaint from West Ham United regarding certain comments made by a Fulham official and is currently looking into the matter."

Meulensteen confirmed on Tuesday night that a bid had been rejected by Upton Park officials for Morrison, though he remained hopeful about the prospect of an agreement being reached.

"We got knocked back," the Dutchman explained. "We will review it and move on. I've left it with (chief executive) Alistair Mackintosh.

"I've explained how I think about the situation so I have to wait and see."

When asked whether Morrison wants to join Fulham, he replied: "Yes."
