thumbnail Hello,

The England international scored once and assisted two goals inside 45 minutes as he made his first appearance since injuring his hamstring against West Ham in December

Andros Townsend made his return from injury as Tottenham Under-21s beat Newcastle Under-21s 4-1 on Tuesday, with the winger scoring once and assisting a further two goals.

The England international has not featured since injuring his hamstring during the Capital One Cup quarter-final loss to West Ham in December.

The game at Bishop's Stortford was originally scheduled for Monday evening, only for a waterlogged pitch to postpone the game, and Townsend wasted no time in making an impact by assisting Souleymane Coulibaly's opener after just 19 seconds.

The 22-year-old doubled Spurs' lead after 22 minutes, latching on to Harry Kane's pass down the channel to cut inside and fire past Jak Alnwick.

And just two minutes later Townsend returned the favour by feeding Kane, who jumped to meet the ball only for Kenny McEvoy to fire in a third, and wrap up an impressive 45-minute cameo.

Kane added a fourth soon after and Michael Richardson netted a consolation eight minutes before the break.

Townsend will now be looking to Sunday's clash at the Liberty Stadium against Swansea City to make his return to Premier League action.
