The England duo are in contention to face Aston Villa on Monday evening but Aaron Ramsey is still out with a thigh injury and Mikel Arteta is a doubt
Kieran Gibbs and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been named in the Arsenalsquad that visits Aston Villa on Monday night, Goal has learned.
The England duo were given the all-clear to travel with the party that left for Birmingham on Monday morning but Mikel Arteta is understood to be a slight doubt for the match.
With Aaron Ramsey believed to still be at least a week away from a return from the thigh injury that has kept him out since Boxing Day, Arsene Wenger could be forced into re-jigging his central midfield pairing.
Wenger revealed last Friday that Oxlade-Chamberlain would return after five months out with a knee injury, but had cast doubt on the fitness of Gibbs, who has missed the team’s last two matches.
The left-back is likely to get the nod over Nacho Monreal to start at Villa Park if Wenger is convinced he has sufficiently recovered from a calf problem.
Olivier Giroud will also return to spearhead the attack against Villa after missing the wins over Cardiff City and Tottenham with an ankle injury and then illness.
Wenger had also said Ramsey could return but the team's leading scorer this season will not be back before the Fulham match, on Saturday, at the earliest.
