Former Liverpool full-back Jason McAteer feels the club need to bring in extra cover for Daniel Sturridge in January if they are to have a successful season.
The striker has been carrying a niggling injury, which forced him to miss England's defeat to Chile last week, and has been playing through the pain barrier for most of the campaign.

“There is no doubt that Sturridge is a great player, but if the club wants to win some medals then they must look at getting some players in," he told Goal.
"I am hoping that he will recover well from his injuries, and that is why I feel that there should be some back-up just in case something happens to him."
Liverpool brought in Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo in the summer, although he has struggled to impress in just the few opportunities he has been given, while injury has also slowed down his attempts to adapt to the Premier League.
As a result, Sturridge has been forced to play more games than he should, and had to lead the Liverpool frontline on his own at the beginning of the season with Suarez out suspended.
“He [Sturridge] is a great player, but the reality is that he needs support [other than Suarez]. I feel that Liverpool needs to beef up their midfield and striking department,” McAteer added.
Liverpool, who sit in second place in the Premier League just two points off leaders Arsenal, travel to Goodison Park for the Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday.
