thumbnail Hello,

The Poland national team reported that the 33-year-old shot-stopper was injured, but Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino has played down fears and says the ex-Celtic man is available

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino says goalkeeper Artur Boruc is fit and available for his side's clash with Manchester United, despite reports to the contrary.

The 33-year-old was on international duty with Poland where he was diagnosed with a hamstring injury, but the Saints' Argentine boss is bemused by those claims and insists the shot-stopper is in perfect condition.

"Artur is OK," Pochettino told reporters. "There was some news that came out which isn't true regarding his fitness – our medical staff have looked at him and he's fine.

"I'm very surprised about that news. He's been training for three days, so we hope that he's going to be perfect for Saturday's game."

Pochettino has no injury worries to contend with ahead of his side's trip to Old Trafford on Saturday, and hopes to be able to include Luke Shaw, who missed the Saints' last league outing against Swansea.

He continued: "Luke has been training well, and we hope that he'll be physically-fit for the game against Manchester United.

"And the rest of the squad are fine. Some arrived back more tired than others because they travelled for a long distance due to their international commitments, but everybody is OK."
