"I have worked very hard to get back to my best. Last winter, the coach already had spotted me, even though I chose to go to QPR. He trusted me again this summer."
While the Frenchman has been prolific thisseason the same cannot be said of his strike partner Papiss Cisse, who, after failing to find the net so far in the Premier League, Pardew hopes will find some form while away on international duty.
"I felt sorry for Papiss at Cardiff [on Saturday]," the manager remarked. "I thought two or three things could have dropped for him during the game but they didn't so, hopefully, he can score when he is away with Senegal. That would do him the world of good.
"They have a massive quialifier against the Ivory Coast and it's one I'm looking forward to watching."
