Fulham winger Kacaniklic calls for Jol support

The Cottagers currently lie in the relegation zone having picked up just one win this term, while a 1-1 draw against West Brom was greeted with boos and chants of 'Jol out'
Alex Kacaniklic has defended Martin Jol despite fan criticism following Fulham's poor start to the Premier League season.

The west London club have not won since the opening day of the season in the league and sections of the Craven Cottage faithful vented their dissatisfaction towards the Dutchman in their 1-1 draw with West Brom earlier this month.

However, the London club managed to come from behind to beat Everton 2-1 in the Capital One Cup at home on Tuesday night - the Toffees first defeat this term - to sooth some of the negativity.

Kacaniklic believes the Cottagers' victory over Roberto Martinez's men shows they are slowly improving and leapt to the defence of his manager, hailing the work he has done for the club.

"He is always encouraging us so we are really happy for him and the team," the Sweden international told reporters.

"We are close. He is always out on the training pitch with us and wants to get involved.

"He is great. Everyone has got their own style but, as a player, you want to be able to speak to the manager and have confidence that you can speak to him."
