Poll of the Day: Who will be the Premier League's top scorer next season?

Robin van Persie has finished as the division's highest scorer for the past two seasons, but is the Dutchman under threat more than ever this term?

Robin van Persie faces fierce competition for the Golden Boot this season as an influx of new signings look set to threaten the Dutchman's crown.

The 30-year-old scored 26 goals in his debut campaign for Manchester United which was enough to secure his place as the Premier League's top scorer ahead of Luis Suarez, who finished with 23 strikes.

Gareth Bale secured 21 goals and, should he remain at Tottenham this summer, will be featuring alongside Roberto Soldado, who scored 24 times for Valencia in La Liga last term.

Another new addition from Spain, Alvaro Negredo, netted one more than Soldado last season and will be looking to fire Manchester City towards the title. Manuel Pellegrini has also promised to hand a prominent role to Edin Dzeko, whose bit-part status under Roberto Mancini reaped 14 goals last term.

Wayne Rooney remains intent on leaving for Chelsea this summer and the England international will be hoping his move to Stamford Bridge will boost his tally in front of goal.

Wilfried Bony has moved to the Premier League after scoring 31 goals in 30 games for Vitesse last season, and the Ivorian will be looking to link up with Michu at Swansea City this term.

Aston Villa fended off relegation last term largely thanks to Christian Benteke's 19 goals but can the Belgium international improve on last season's haul?
