TEAM NEWS: Shevchenko and Ibrahimovic face off as Ukraine take on Sweden

Bongarts

The big-name forwards both get the nod in Kiev as the co-hosts look to score a victory in their first ever European finals after England draw with France in the early Group D game

Star strikers Andriy Shevchenko and Zlatan Ibrahimovic start for Ukraine and Sweden respectively as the co-hosts kick off their Euro 2012 campaign in Group D.

The stomach bug that swept through the Ukraine camp last week appears to have dissipated, and manager Oleg Blokhin has opted for a 4-1-3-2 formation. Shevchenko lines up alongside Dinamo Moscow striker Andriy Voronin, with Anatoliy Timoschchuk in the midfield holding role.

Erik Hamren has elected to start Markus Rosenberg up front for Sweden, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic supporting the Werder Bremen striker from behind, alongside PSV Eindhoven’s Ola Toivonen and Sunderland wide-man Sebastian Larsson in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

This means only a place on the bench for Johan Elmander, who has been returning from a fractured foot. Meanwhile, Rasmus Elm is preferred in midfield to Anders Svensson alongside playmaker Kim Kallstrom.

Ukraine (4-1-3-2):
Pyatov; Husyev, Khacheridi, Mykhalik, Selin; Timoschchuk; Nazarenko, Konoplyanka Yarmolenko; Voronin, Shevchenko

Sweden (4-2-3-1): Isaksson; Lustig, Mellberg, Granqvist, Martin Olsson; Elm, Kallstrom; Larsson, Ibrahimovic, Toivonen; Rosenberg.
