thumbnail Hello,

Slavia Prague have confirmed that Ritchie could be released, but a move back to Kaizer Chiefs looks unlikely with Levy Mokgothu close to joining the Naturena outfit

Keagan Ritchie may be on his way out of Slavia Prague, but he is unlikely to make a return to Kaizer Chiefs as the Soweto giants already have a replacement in mind.

Goal reported on Wednesday that AmaKhosi are close to acquiring the services of left-back Levy Mokgothu from Moroka Swallows, with a number of players, including Mandla Masango, expected to be part of the deal.

Karol Kisel, the Sporting Director at the Czech Republic club, confirmed that Ritchie could probably be released although no final decision has been made.

“Keegan Ritchie will probably leave, but it is not yet definite,” Kisel told the Czech media this week.

Ritchie joined Slavia earlier this year, but struggled to command a regular place in their starting line-up. He suffered an injury when he was about get some game time, and spent the better part of the season on the sidelines.

The 23-year-old Ritchie joined Chiefs from Swallows a few seasons ago, but he was used sparingly with Jimmy Jambo and Tsepo Masilela making it difficult for him to crack it in the AmaKhosi's starting line-up.

Chiefs have three defenders - Jambo, Masilela, and Simphiwe Mtsweni - in Ritchie's position currently, and the former Bafana defender may be forced to look for a new home.
