Masilela: Chiefs disappointed for finishing without a trophy

The 29-year-old Masilela says the AmaKhosi players are as disappointed as their fans for their failure to defend any of their titles this past season

Kaizer Chiefs defender Tsepo Masilela has admitted that the players had a difficult season considering the number of games that they played, but he said that they enjoyed the challenge.

Masilela added that the entire team is disappointed for failing to win any silverware, having won two major trophies the previous season.

"The season was a difficult one in a sense that we played lots of games and we travelled a lot as well, but we really enjoyed the challenge," Masilela told the Chiefs website.

"From winning the double last season to finishing without a trophy this season, I must say we are disappointed. Any big team in the world would be disappointed [for] finishing without a trophy," he said.

The Bafana full-back also reflected on his own performance. He believes that he did well as an individual given the fact that he spent more time on the pitch than on the sidelines.

"As a player I always look to improve. I played many games this season compared to the last season, which is a plus. I'm not one to rate myself but I think I did well under the circumstances of fixture congestion," he added.
