Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila is optimistic that he will catch the eye of the Black Stars coach when selecting his squad for the World Cup.
The Mamelodi Sundowns guardsman said a personal assessment shows that he makes the cut and it is only injury that could thwart his chances of going to Brazil 2014.
“I am part of the untouchables,” Sumaila told Accra-based Asempa FM in reference to coach Kwesi Appiah’s earlier interview that he is almost done with his squad selection. “As a footballer, I need to have confidence in all endeavour.”
He added: “I pray against any injury that will keep me out of action. If I stay fit, I will make it to Brazil. I know that staying fit and keeping good form will grant me a place at the World Cup.”
Sumaila, who made his Black Stars debut in 2011, has made four appearances for the 2010 World Cup quarter-finalists.
