Chiefs legend Tovey gets behind Pirates for final

The Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana legend speaks to Goal exclusively about how Orlando Pirates can win the Caf Champions League for the benefit of all South African clubs
Orlando Pirates host defending champions Al Ahly in the first leg of the final at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.

Tovey is backing Bucs, demonstrating that the whole nation needs to get behind the PSL club to improve the country's Caf record.

"Without a doubt, Orlando Pirates have what it takes to win at home. They have a great coach and a group of high calibre players,” said Tovey.

Pirates managed to beat Al Ahly during the group stages, but Tovey reminds them that this time will be much tougher.

“That is an advantage and motivation for the players. But I must say that the match will not be easy at all. There is lot of pressure, but if they play as a team and stay focused, things will work out well,” he said.

Tovey pointed out that if Pirates win the competition then it will benefit all South African clubs.

“The nation is already proud of Pirates and shall they win, this will be a bonus. This would also motivate Kaizer Chiefs as they will be part of this competition (next year),” he said.
