Kaizer Chiefs keeper Khune unshaken by Bacela form

Khune has conceded five goals in the league already this season while Bacela is yet to open his league account for the Sea Robbers despite netting 10 goals in all competitions

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune said he is unfazed by Lennox Bacela’s recent goalscoring form as the two players will definitely come up against each other on Saturday afternoon.

Bacela has netted 10 goals for the Buccaneers in his first 15 games since joining the club from Bloem Celtic at the beginning of the season, but Khune said that he will continue to do his job as a goalkeeper.

“He is doing well. His mandate is to score and mine is to keep the balls from going into the back of the net,” Khune told reporters.

“We just have to do our jobs and we will see who comes out tops, but at the end of the day it’s about the team winning and not only about the two players. It will be unfair for the others players,” he said.

The 26-year-old Khune doesn’t believe AmaKhosi are the underdogs for this encounter, and he added that Chiefs might have an edge over their arch-rivals because they have had more time to rest than their opponents.

“I wouldn’t say we are underdogs. Pirates deserve respect and we would like to congratulate them on reaching the (Caf) Champions League final.

“The only disadvantage for them is that they have played more games without much rest going into this game while we have had more rest,” added Khune.
