Kaizer Chiefs motivated by Pirates Caf Champions League run, admits Siyabonga Nkosi

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi has told Goal that PSL teams should be doing better in the Caf Champions League, because of the resources South African football has.

Nkosi was referring to Orlando Pirates’ fine run in this year’s Caf competition, and he believes this is a sign that PSL is getting stronger.

“My personal point of view is that South Africa should be doing better in African competitions, because we have a strong league and we’ve got resources to counter whatever other African countries throw,” Nkosi told Goal.

The former Bafana man admits that the entire AmaKhosi camp is motivated by Pirates, and they are willing to do well in next year’s Caf Champions League.

He believes Pirates have proven that South African football is improving and therefore can be counted amongst the best on the continent.

“For me I think Pirates going that far is motivation and it also shows that maybe we are getting into the direction where we could say South Africa can be counted amongst the top leagues in Africa in terms of Caf Champions League representation. So, we [Kaizer Chiefs] are also thinking like that,” said Nkosi.
